View from Leigh Woods (Somerset) to Clifton. The Clifton Observatory can be seen to the left. The then new avalanche shelter on the Portway can be seen. Thus structure is designed to protect drivers on the busy road from both rolling stones and objects (including people) falling from the bridge.
