STENA HIBERNA, Dún Laoghaire, October 1994

STENA HEBERNIA seen at Carlisle Pier Dún Laoghaire in October 1994. STENA HIBERNIA was originally Built for British Railways Sealink in 1977. She was renamed following the acquisition of Sealink from Sea Containers British Ferries operation. The blue train shed of the Carlisle Pier station was still standing, however, the rail link to the Dublin - Bray line had been severed and tracks removed. The inner harbour berth at Holyhead Harbour which allowed foot passengers convenient transfer to trains - a feature now lost with the remote berths out at Salt Island which require a shuttle-bus ride from terminal to ship.
