Aberglaslyn Pass - looking towards Beddgelert. A Blacker Bombard Mortar, issued to the Home Guard during the Second World War as an anti tank weapon, was installed on the WHR track bed after the track had been removed in 1941. The mounting post and metal pivot remain in place until the track was relayed some 17 years or so after this photograph was taken. The mortar mounting has been preserved being moved to the side of the track bed.

My late father, John William Luxton is seen near the southern portal of the Nantmor Tunnel. We had parked the car at Bryn y felin and walked the track bed to Nantmor through the tunnel. Unfortunately my father passed away in 2007 and didn't have the opportunity to travel through the tunnel though I was able to do it shortly after the WHR reopened through the Aberglaslyn Pass in 2008.
