Some water remains in the infilled Trafalgar Dock. The tyres still hang there to protect the walls from ships that will no longer come. In the mid naughties part of this dock was cleared to provide a channel for the Leeds & Liverpool Canal extension to the Albert Dock.
The gap in the cobbles shows where the Scherzer Rolling Lift Bridge had been sited. On the right was the B&I container berth. On the left the ro/ro berth. It is hard to believe that in the early 1980s B&I Line ships would have passed through here on their way to Waterloo River Entrance.
The passenger terminal. A moving covered gangway provided a link from the jack-knife doors in the upstairs departure lounge to the ship.
