The modern B& I Line Liverpool Terminal opened in 1971 and closed in 1983 after a tragically short life. Its modern buildings had won a design award but were left to decay. In the mid 1990s there had been proposals to build an on-river linkspan for ro/ro traffic at this location which would have seen the buildings reused but plans for this were scrapped following objections of residents in the nearby Waterloo Dock Warehouse Apartments and they were finally demolished around 10 years ago. This view shows the main The entrance on Regent Road.
