Plymouth - April 01, 1981

12 Buckwell Street a late 17th Century Merchant's house with a 20th Century restored front. The Grade II listed building has rubble side walls; render on timber frame to front end; dry slate roof hipped and with deep projection at the front; slate
roofed hoods on floor projections resembling jetties to all
floors below; tall rendered lateral stacks to left-hand wall
and rear gable stack. Deep narrow plan end on to the street.
4 storeys; 1-window range. 2-light wooden mullions probably
copies of the original windows, those to 1st and 2nd floors
with transoms, all with glazing bars. Ground floor has fascia
over 8-pane shop window and shop doorway on the right.
INTERIOR: not inspected but likely to retain original features
