Newlyn viewed from a British International Helicopters flight to St Mary's. Plenty of fishing vessels are in evidence around North Pier and the new Mary Williams Pier opened by HM Queen in 1980. The old, original quay can e seen to to the left surrounded by small boats. At the bottom of the picture is the South Pier complete with the conveyor system which conveyed granite from the Penlee Quarry. This conveyor which was removed after the closure of the quarry replaced a narrow gauge railway in 1973.
