Penlee Point with the Penlee Lifeboat Station from which was launched the ill-fated RNLB SOLOMON BROWNE visible. The SOLOMON BROWNE had gone to the aid of the cargo ship UNION STAR which was in trouble due to engine failuer in a storm. Both vessels were lost. The replacement Penlee lifeboat relocated to Newlyn Harbour though the lifeboat station at Penlee point has been maintained as a memorial.
