Laxey Towing Company
The Laxey Towing Company Ltd is a marine towage, salvage, contracting, pilotage and pleasure steamer operator based in Douglas, capital of the Isle of Man. The company operates a number of interesting and historic vessels including the passenger vessel KARINA of 1946. KARINA was built by Philip and Son of Dartmouth, Devon, as the MAY QUEEN for the Oreston and Turnchapel Steamboat Co which operated passenger services out of Plymouth on the River Tamar. She passed through several west of England owners before being sold to the Laxey Towing Company in 2001. Another interesting vessel in the company fleet is the historic tug WENDY ANN of 1934 built by Hall, Alexander & Company of Aberdeen.
