Laxey Towing Company
The Laxey Towing Company Ltd is a marine towage, salvage, contracting, pilotage operator based in Douglas, capital of the Isle of Man. Until 2017 pleasure cruises operated by MV KARINA were also offered during the summer season. KARINA was sold to Gambian interests in 2018, however as of 2022 she is yet to depart for her new home in Africa.
KARINA was built by Philip and Son of Dartmouth, Devon in 1946, as the MAY QUEEN for the Oreston and Turnchapel Steamboat Co which operated passenger services out of Plymouth on the River Tamar. She passed through several west of England owners before being sold to the Laxey Towing Company in 2001.
Another interesting vessel in the company fleet is the historic tug WENDY ANN of 1934 built by Hall, Alexander & Company of Aberdeen.
The company also operates a workboat LONAN and pilot vessel GIRL MARY.
