BLUE STAR 1 outbound for Rosslare passing Milford Haven on July 10, 2021. The currently disused Ward's Pier can be seen in the foreground. The pier head carries the slogan "Cofiwch Dryweryn - Remember Tryweryn" The mural, marks the flooding of the Welsh speaking north Wales village of Capel Celyn in 1965 to provide water for Liverpool Corporation, despite overwhelming opposition. The mural at Ward's Pier is one of a number that have appeared around Wales following damage caused to the original mural at Llanrhystud, near Aberystwyth several years ago. That damage has now been repaired. The ‘drowning’ of Capel Celyn is widely regarded as a turning point in the Welsh nationalist and language movements, Plaid Cymru gaining its first MP the following year. In 2005, Liverpool City Council issued an apology over Tryweryn for "any insensitivity shown".
