The AA box - once a familiar feature of rural roads around Britain the AA box has gradually disappeared with the spread of mobile phones. However, the box at Devil's Bridge remains next to the Hafod Arms Hotel. It has had a repaint since my last visit in 2014.

The AA box - once a familiar feature of rural roads around Britain the AA box has gradually disappeared with the spread of mobile phones. However, the box at Devil's Bridge remains next to the Hafod Arms Hotel. It has had a repaint since my last visit in 2014.

Automobile Association AA BOX 580, on the A497 at Boduan north west of Pwllheli. The box was erected on March 30, 1955. It is now a listed structure. The following information from the CADW listed building database: A box structure, timber framed covered with black painted galvanised sheet metal, set on a concrete base. The single doorway faces south-west towards the road. The box has yellow detailing including corporate logos. The cross-gabled roof is silver painted and has a central capped vent. The interior has been altered and retains little original detail. Said to be one of only twenty-four surviving examples of a type that originally numbered a thousand in the UK.
