VALE OF FFESTINIOG acting as Porthmadog Harbour Station pilot. Prior to the extension of the station Welsh Highland and Ffestiniog Railway trains had to share the same platform. The procedure was for the station pilot to draw the Welsh Highland train out of the platform and clear of the WHR junction point then the WHR locomotive would join the Caernarfon end of the train and it would depart across Britannia Bridge Crossing.
