Welsh Highland Railway - May 26, 2009
"Vale of Ffestiniog" is a sister to "Castell Caernarfon" seen arriving at Beddgelert Station on May 26, 2009. However, she was extensively rebuilt to fit the Ffestiniog Railway's restricted loading gauge and has a cab at each end. The Welsh Highland Railway had opened to Beddgelert earlier in the year. The concrete base remains of the original Welsh Hightland Railway water tower constructed by McAlpine in the 1920s can be seen on the left of this photograph.
