Tintern to Tidenham Tunnel - Wye Valley Greenway 2021
The Wye Valley Greenway is a new foot and cycle track which begins in at Tintern in Wales, crosses the River Wye into Gloucestershire England and heads south towards the the Great Western Railway mainline to south Wales which it once made a connection on the English side of the border. Thus most of the Greenway is in England, rather than Wales.
The Wye Valley Greenway opened in April 2021 and features the 1080 metre long Tidenham Tunnel.
The tunnel is only open to the public from April to September to protect the resident bat colony, a diversion (much longer) is available October to March which does not follow the railway track.
Due to insufficient time I was unable o complete the last mile from Tidenham Tunnel to near the mainline junction on this visit made in July.
I will return at a later date to completed the last mile or so.
