Penzance Harbour / Albert Pier Branch

The Penzance harbour line was constructed along Albert Pier to serve vessels calling at Penzance Harbour. It was constructed in 1869 obtained a private siding agreement with the GWR. It was accessed via the freight yard at Penzance Station. However, following the 1930s remodelling of Penzance Station and the removal of freight facilities to Ponsandane the line fell into disuse. However, much of the track remains in place to this day and has survived new buildings being erected on the quay.

    Looking down the quay towards the station. The visible track ends near the yellow car. The former goods yard where it connected with the rest of the system was relocated to a new site in the 1930s and was subsequently redeveloped into Penzance Bus Station.

    Closed in the late 1930s around the time that Penzance station was remodelled and freight facilities moved out to Ponsandane / Long Rock much of the track of the Penzance Harbour / Albert Quay line survives. This is the end of the line.
