Pontypool and Blaenavon Railway

The Pontypool and Blaenavon Railway Rheilffordd Pont-y-pŵl a Blaenafon) is a 2-mile volunteer-run heritage railway in South Wales, running trains between a halt platform opposite the Whistle Inn public house southwards to the town of Blaenavon via a two-platform station at Furnace Sidings A separate branch line serving Big Pit from Furnace Sidings. The line is the highest preserved standard-gauge line in the United Kingdom.
The line which has been operating for 30 years is still being developed with various plans for future extensions along the track bed at both ends of the line.

The loco was rescued from retirement as a children's climbing frame at Splott Park, Cardiff. Restored it was modified to represent Thomas The Tank Engine and ran at Llangollen Railway until 2018. It has now been restored to its original appearance.
