HELP HERITAGE SURVIVE WITH A VIRTUAL VISIT

We are living in very unusual and uncertain times with many having to spend prolonged periods at home.

If, like me, you spend your free time visiting heritage venues be they heritage railways, museums, historic sites etc. we should try to support these places during the current crisis by making virtual visits.

Draw up a list of places you would normally visit, view their web sites, and then, if you can afford to, with the money saved, as you are unable to visit – donate that money to the operating society / charity / organisation.

Alternatively support the online retail operation if one is available or consider joining that organisation as a member.

Some locations are already struggling and launching appeals. We need to help them survive for our continued pleasure and that of future generations.

Furthermore, if you regularly support an independent hotel / guest house / camp site / holiday let when visiting heritage attractions why not consider adding a day or two if you have to amend a reservation?

I have already rebooked some accommodation to the same period next year and added days. Doing so will help our hospitality industry recover, many operators being small family businesses and companies that will value support, and help them plan for better times.

In the meantime take care and keep well.
