The Dartmoor Line
In early 2020 it was announced that the Dartmoor Railway Community Interest Company had entered administration and the heritage operation would cease.
In early 2021 the line which had been leased from Aggregate Industries, the current owners of Meldon Quarry, would be returned to Network Rail.
Work started immediately to prepare the railway for reopening later in 2021.
By mid May 2021 track had been relayed from Coleford Junction to Okehampton. In the meantime Dartmoor Railway rolling stock leased from RMS Locotec was being offered for sale.
There remains a possibility that a limited heritage operation between Okehampton and Meldon may resume using platform 1 at Okehampton Station with GWR trains operating from platform 3.
Reopening of the line with daily services to Exeter is expected to occur before the end of 2021.
