St Ann's Head
St. Anne’s Head is the oldest light house station on the coast of Wales located close to the entrance to Milford Haven.
In 1713 a patent was granted to Trinity House to construct a lighthouse at St Anne’s Head. Two lighthouses were built by the lease holder Joseph Allen in 1714.
They were originally illuminated by coal.
The high light was constructed as 75 feet tall tapered tower.
The low light with a shorter tower. The low light was subsequently rebuilt further from the cliff edge in 1841 due to erosion.
The high light was discontinued in 1910 and its lantern replaced by a coastguard look out in the early years of World War II. In recent years the upper light has been converted to holiday accommodation.
The low light was automated in 1998 and though unmanned is site is maintained as an operational base for Trinity House maintenance teams.
