West Mead Quarry
West Mead Quarry and the remains of the associated Red Cottages lie close to the well know Foggintor and Swell Tor Quarries on Dartmoor. The quarry is situated below the track which leads to Yellowmeade Farm and Foggintor fairly close to the Two Bridges to Tavistock Road. The
Though the associated Red Cottages feature on historic Ordnance Survey Maps interestingly West Mead Quarry is not shown.
The associated Red Cottages were demolished in the 1950s. According to John Hallett writing in "Around Princetown's Quarries" West Mead Quarry Closed in 1966 having been worked by former employees of Swell Tor quarry since that quarry closed in 1938.
