BOTALLACK MINE, Cornwall, UK - May 26, 2015

Allen's Shaft, Botallack Mine. The modern headgear and winding house were installed in the early 1980s by Geevor who were considering expansion into the Botallack sett.

Unfortunately the tin price crash of the late 1980s led to abandonment of the incomplete headgear which has remained a prominent landmark.

It also appears somewhat anachronistically in the back ground of some scenes of the 2015 Poldark series which was filmed around Botallack Mine and Wheal Owles.
