Mousehole

A delightful, unspoilt fishing village in Penwith area of Cornwall. Mousehole, was until the 16th century one of the principal ports of Mount's Bay. Mousehole, like Penzance, Newlyn, and Paul, was attacked in 1595 by a raiding party led Spaniard Carlos de Amésquita, the only surviving building being the 'Keigwin Arms', a local pub, now a private house.

Mousehole is well known for its annual Christmas Lights and remembered by many for the Penlee Lifeboat Disaster of Christmas 1981 in which the crew of the RNLB SOLOMON BROWNE and the cargo ship UNION STAR, to which the lifeboat was rendering assistance, were all lost.
