Burton Marsh Greenway - Sustrans Route 568

The Burton Marsh Greenway is part of National Cycle Route 568 which connects with the Wales Coastal Path. Opened by Sustrans in 2013 this traffic-free tarmac route starts in Wales at Shotton crosses a raised plateau looking out over the Dee Estuary, one of the UK’s premier birding locations for wetland and shore birds. Entering England the path then crosses Burton Marsh by a lengthy board walk to the sandstone cliffs of Burton Point. Once this area below the cliffs was tidal, until following the canalisation of the navigable channel moved to the west side of the estuary. The greenway then continues to Denhall Lane and on to Denhall Quay.
