Montgomery Canal: Belan Locks to Bridge 126 - June 10, 2021
Canal Stables beside Belan Locks at Belan Wharf.
Belan Locks. Though open to traffic this isolated section of the Montgomery Canal has but a handful of resident craft. How often these restored locks are used is unknown but one imagines it is not often.
Bridge 121 crosses the canal between Belan Top Lock and Bottom Lock, the masonery shows wear from countless ropes rubbing against the structure as horsedrawn boats passed by.
Beyond Belan Locks only a narrow channel exists as overgrowth from both banks threatens to choke the navigable waters.
Continuing west from Belan Locks.
Continuing west from Belan Locks - the canal is treelined.
