Sadly somewhat caged off by unsightly "block n'mesh" fencing is the historic covered Taylor's Boat Yard Graving Dock which as been awarded a Transport Trust Red Plaque acknowledging its importance as the Shropshire Union Railways and Canal Company boat maintenance yard. The River Dee Branch entrance lock can be seen on the right.
This Historic Boatyard at Tower Wharf, which was once the maintenance and boat building base of the Shropshire Union Railways and Canal Company. When the SUC ceased to be general carriers on the canal in 1921 it was acquired by a local boat building family by the name of Taylor and is generally known as Taylor's Boat Yard, though is now operated by a company which was once originally J.P. Marine but which has since changed its name Taylor's Boatyard.
