This Historic Boatyard at Tower Wharf, which was once the maintenance and boat building base of the Shropshire Union Railways and Canal Company. When the SUC ceased to be general carriers on the canal in 1921 it was acquired by a local boat building family by the name of Taylor and is generally known as Taylor's Boat Yard, though is now operated by a company which was once originally J.P. Marine but which has since changed its name Taylor's Boatyard.
A Roving Bridge somtimes known as a cross over bridge enabled towing horses to cross the canal without being unhitched from their boats at locations where the canal tow path changed from one site of the canal to the other.
