View towards the main entrance showing an example of point work used at locations where rail wagons with double flange wheels were employed.
This is one of a series of views taken in 1989 of the then Welsh Slate Museum at Glfach Ddu, Llanberis when it was in the care of CADW Heritage Wales. Today (2017) the museum is operated by National Museums Wales. Since these photographs were taken very little has changed, there have been some improvements in access, catering, the reconstruction on site of quarrymen's cottages and a somewhat dubiously located gift shop which in my opinion detracts from the original buildings which http://www.coflien.gov.uk attributes to 19th Century agricultural practice but which others have likened to a colonial fort.
