Maenofferen Quarry, Blaenau Ffestiniog - January 30, 1981

Rhiwbach Tramway - transhipment point where slate was transferred from rail to road transport. Originally slate wagons were lowered down Rhiwbach #1 incline where the tracks joined those of the Ffestiniog Ra.ilway.

QUALITY NOTE: This image was taken on a Pentax auto 110 SLR Camera during a college field trip when I was a student. Kodachrome slide film was used which underexposed on a dismal day. The images wre somewhat rushed and are of inferior quality – However, I have included them as they are of interest. The Pentax auto 110 was sold on not long after these photographs were taken a rather useless camera at least for the type of photography I wished to do! This image has been converted to monochrome to remove an intense blue colour cast.
